Schedule of Refurbishment Works

Start of Stripdown 28 August 2024
Completion of Refurbishment 14 March 2025
Time for Refurbishment 198 Days (6 1/2 months)

Scope of Refurbishment Works

The engine was completely stripped down (with the exceptions noted below) and every single part was cleaned, repainted or polished.

Several improvements were made to some components and others were remade to a better standard.

Exceptions to the Stripdown

1) The cylinder itself was not removed from the boiler and the cylinder holding down studs were not removed.

2) The front Axle, Spring and Perch Bracket were not removed from the boiler.

3) Parts that were riveted together were left intact.

4) Tidying-up the Showman’s electrics remains outstanding. The electrics do work (Generator produces electricity to put the canopy lights on and/or charge a car battery) but a bit of neatening up and Volt/Ammeter needed.

As stated above, apart from these items everything else was stripped down completely.

Photo Galleries

Here are photos of the engine mostly taken on the same day of completion, 14 March 2025.
