Stripdown Commences – Day One Progress
Reporting the first day’s progress – starting to strip down the engine. 28 August 2024.
Taking off:-
- Showman’s Canopy
- Seats
- Back Wheels
Left Hand side back wheel proved to be a great problem to remove. It seemed that the differential drive pin had seized in the differential (couldn’t remove it) and that I had created a burr on the end of the axles preventing the wheel from coming off.
All was resolved but with great difficulty and a lot of what LBSC used to call “Railroad Esperanto”.
I’d call that pretty good progress for one 74 year old man with a decidedly dodgy back to do on his own.
